It’s called The Starving Artist is a Myth and it’s about learning how selling art online can help you find your ideal buyers, eliminate dependency on agents and galleries, and keep more of your profits for yourself.
I’m posting a free excerpt for you to view here. This excerpt walks you through the basics of how to differentiate yourself from all of the other artists out there and develop something called a Unique Selling Proposition. Hi Cory,
I want to thank you for this site and for your inspiration to help dispel the starving artist myth. I’ve started an online gallery at Imagekind and I’m working on promoting it. Feel free to take a look if you have a moment. Simply put, what I’m offering is a collaboration of poetry and images that speak to the soulful, mystical dimension of life. So obviously, our work is not for cynics. The poetry is done by my partner who is an English teacher. Her words are lyrical and evocative. I can “see” what she writes. I then illustrate what I see. “Ethereal and bold”, “mystical” and “dreamlike” are some of the things we’ve heard about our work. The one area where I feel stumped is tags and keywords. Another area is search engine rankings. That seems really random. Maybe I just don’t understand it yet. But I would be interested in your book when it comes out.
