Matthew Ebel – Musician, Online Entrepreneur

Matthew Ebel blew me away when I heard what he was doing with his online music sales. He’s becoming a force of nature and a model for how other musicians can support themselves full time without signing a deal with a major label.

MatthewEbel.net is a site where fans can pay a monthly fee to be a part of Ebel’s ongoing music development. His fan base is relatively small, but very loyal and they promote his work like crazy. He gets real-time feedback on his work and thus knows what his audience likes and what they don’t.

Visual artists you should listen to this as well. It’s fairly short (about 20 minutes) and there are plenty of good ideas for you here as well. Enjoy!

Hey, thanks for doing the interview in the first place. I hope I can help other indie artists like me find ways to feed themselves! With sushi, not ramen…

I’m a huge sushi fan. The place down the street from me knows my number when I call. Thanks for stopping by Torley and Mark!
